Challenge/Objective

The Carnival Legend required a detailed assessment of its assistive devices to evaluate their condition and functional performance in accordance with the Assistive Devices Functional Assessment (ADFA) methodology, as defined by Carnival Cruise Line.

OMNIA NAVAL LLC was commissioned to carry out a structured technical assessment of the relevant onboard facilities, focusing on the identification, evaluation, and functional validation of assistive devices and related features.

Solution/Services Provided

OMNIA NAVAL LLC carried out a detailed technical assessment of the following assistive devices and facilities onboard the Carnival Legend, based on the criteria outlined in the internal document “Assistive Devices Functional Standards”:

  • Assistive hardware and devices
  • Accessible pathways and supporting structures
  • Load-bearing and support conditions of assistive equipment

The assessment focused on evaluating the condition, configuration, and observable functional performance of these elements in accordance with the Assistive Devices Functional Assessment (ADFA) methodology, with particular attention to safety and practical usability for passengers and crew.

Results/Outcome

Following the assessment, OMNIA NAVAL LLC confirmed that all identified assistive devices and facilities were reviewed in accordance with the Assistive Devices Functional Assessment (ADFA) methodology as defined by Carnival Cruise Line.

The assessment included both visual verification and functional evaluation, where applicable, to identify any observable deficiencies, defects, or conditions affecting the performance, usability, and safe operation of assistive devices at the time of assessment.

For elements involving load-bearing or support conditions, the installation characteristics and declared capacity were reviewed as part of the assessment scope, with consideration of their structural condition and functional adequacy.

Upon completion, OMNIA NAVAL LLC issued an Assistive Devices Functional Assessment Certificate (ADFA Certificate) documenting the assessment findings and the functional status of the examined assistive devices at the time of the assessment.
