Carnival Legend – Lifting Appliance Inspection – August 2024
OMNIA NAVAL LLC successfully executed a comprehensive inspection of lifting appliances aboard the Carnival Legend . The project followed the “HESS-MS Guidelines for Lifting Appliances Management (OHS-1110)” and adhered to LOLER-98, ILO Convention #152, and Lloyd’s Register Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment.
The inspection encompassed:
- Rigging Hardware
- Manual Lifting Appliances
- Powered Lifting Machines
- Lifting Points Supporting Structures
- Non-fixed Lifting Accessories (Loose Gears)
- General Components
Each system was meticulously evaluated according to the OMNIA Test Log for Lifting Appliances 2024.
Following the successful completion of the inspection, OMNIA NAVAL LLC issued a Certificate of Examination Completion with the corresponding results.
Assistive Devices Functional Assessment (ADFA) Carnival Legend – August 2024
OMNIA NAVAL LLC conducted an Assistive Devices Functional Assessment (ADFA) onboard the Carnival Legend, reviewing key assistive devices and installations to verify their presence, configuration, and functional condition in accordance with internal accessibility design criteria as defined by Carnival Cruise Line.
The assessment covered:
- Assistive Hardware and Devices
- Accessible Pathways and Supporting Elements
- Functionality of Load-Bearing Assistive Equipment
Each device and facility was evaluated with reference to the internal document “Assistive Devices Functional Standards”, with the objective of verifying their installation status, configuration, and observable functional performance at the time of inspection, in alignment with intended operational use.
Upon completion of the assessment, OMNIA NAVAL LLC issued an Assistive Devices Functional Assessment Certificate (ADFA Certificate), documenting the inspection results and the functional status of the assistive systems and features observed onboard.
Thermographic Inspection – Electrical & Piping Systems
Cruise Vessel | Mediterranean
OMNIA Naval carried out an infrared thermographic survey of the vessel’s main electrical switchboards and selected piping systems as part of a scheduled preventive maintenance program.
The inspection was performed under normal operating conditions, enabling a non-intrusive assessment of critical onboard systems and early detection of potential faults.
Key findings included:
- Localized overheating in electrical connections within distribution panels
- Load imbalance indications affecting switchboard performance
- Insulation degradation in sections of thermal piping systems
- Minor heat losses associated with reduced insulation efficiency
Corrective actions were implemented during routine maintenance without impacting vessel operations. The intervention improved system reliability, enhanced onboard safety, and contributed to increased energy efficiency across the inspected areas.
