Commander Sarah Brennan Leads the Way: A Beacon of Inspiration in the Maritime Industry

In a historic event at Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Port Canaveral, Commander Sarah Brennan assumed command, marking a significant milestone not only in her career but also for women in the maritime sector. As the head of MSU Port Canaveral, Commander Brennan leads a dedicated team of 29 active duty, reserve, and civilian personnel, tasked with critical missions including port security, marine safety, search and rescue, waterways management, and environmental response. With an area of responsibility spanning 857 miles of navigable waterways throughout central Florida and its east coast, Commander Brennan’s leadership ensures the safety and security of vital maritime infrastructure and operations.

Prior to her appointment, Commander Brennan served with distinction at the Coast Guard’s office of personnel management. Now, as she assumes command of MSU Port Canaveral, she expressed her profound honor and excitement for the journey ahead. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this unit and continue the exceptional work that this crew has already achieved,” said Brennan. “I am excited about this next chapter and look forward to the expansion of the maritime industry in this area.”
